Does the sample have to be 500 words?

Yes, 500 words really isn't that long. We fill that it is long enough to be able to make a good assessment of writing ability. To be honest the majority of applications that come in have writing samples of close to 1000 words.

We encourage you to be descriptive while also getting the characters point of view across.
