Chapter 22: Escape

Morgana sighed in relief as the two shades walked off towards the terminals. Then she pulled out the note and read over it again with a sigh, "I hate to have Samantha think she abandoned her... but if Circe finds this note and discovers we allowed that kid to go to Alcatraz when we were there... She's already going to be mad at us for attacking... If she finds out..."

Morgana sighed and went outside in the open. She walked around aimlessly, pondering what she was going to do about the escaped child, 'What I am I going to do? If I go back and get her, Circe will know she made it to Alcatraz... And if I don't come back with her, she'll tell the other senshi where we are. That will ruin everything...' Morgana sighed as she slowly ascended the long stairs of the shrine she had volunteered to search, even though knew it was useless, 'Circe and Sera... They argue so much... And Sera doesn't even believe in the cause... I'll just have to risk Circe's wrath... If I bring the kid back, then she might over look it... I will not allow myself to die in the cursed form...

Suddenly Morgana heard something. She looked up and saw someone running inside the shrine. Her jaw dropped when she realized who it was, "I can't believe my luck..."

Morgana quietly followed the young girl into the shrine, surprised she didn't sense her. Sarah quickly fell into a restless sleep.

Morgana bit her lip, knowing she had to act fast. She moved forward stealthily, praying she didn't wake her up. Then she reached out and covered Sarah's mouth to prevent her from screaming...

Sarah however is not about to be taken back. She kicks the shade in the stomach, screaming that she'll never go back to that awful place, unless its to rescue Samantha. Then she runs off, Morgana trailing behind her...

While Sarah's running, she realizes how much she misses Samantha, unaware that her friend has escaped and is searching for her. Sarah begins to wonder why she escaped without Sam in the first place, and realizes it was wrong of her to leave without her best friend.

Sarah stops and turns back to Morgana, putting up her hands. She sighed and said, "Fine. You win. Take me back."

Morgana blinked and surprised and felt her jaw unhinge. She cocked her head to the side and looked at Sarah quizzically, surprised the girl gave up that easily.

"You... You're surrendering?" Morgana breathed.

"Well you don't have to put it like that..." Sarah muttered under her breath, "Look could you just drain me or blast me already and get it over with?"

Morgana blinked in surprise. Obviously, this girl did not know her character at all. She would have thought Sarah would have realized her nature a few minutes prior. Morgana had had a perfect opportunity to blast the girl after she had kicked her, but she had done no such thing. In hindsight, Morgana also realized she had hardly been running at the speed she could have reached.

Finally, Morgana pulled herself out of her reverie and shook her head, "I don't believe in excessive force. Just don't try to escape again... You're lucky I found you and not one of the others..." Morgana cringed as horrible thoughts ran through her head. Then she took hold of Sarah's arm, striving to be as firm as she possibly could without harming her, "I suggest you and Samantha try and stay out of the others' way... Hopefully they'll be preoccupied with-- strategizing... and the like..." Morgana stopped herself and covered before she went on. She knew that the girl could have no knowledge of all that had occurred, but she didn't want to take a chance. Besides, she might try and warn the others.

'I can't allow her to escape... I just wish there were some other way...'

Sarah looked at her as if she was in shock and said, "You aren't like the others..."

Morgana nodded and looked around the base to make sure nobody was around. When satisfied that they were alone, she answered the girl aloud, "I am different... Count your blessings..."

Then Morgana led the girl back to her "cell" and unlocked the door. When she opened it, there was a surprise in store... Or rather lack there of. Morgana groaned and said, "I don't believe this... I get one back and then while we're gone, the other one leaves... Circe will have our heads..." Morgana shuddered and pulled the girl along.

"Come on... I can't very well leave you alone..." then she went down to the terminals to inform Sera and Bauchus of the retrieval... and the escape...
