Chapter 29: All for Nothing

The Shades have long since changed their locations, dragging Kodia along for the ride. Narcissus followed Circe's orders and found them a new place to stay, an abaondoned old police precinct that was long forgotten and falling to ruin... Kodia was being held in one of the cells, too weak to even think about escaping...

Little did he know the one he had rescued was returning.

Sarah snuck back to the old precinct, and briefly wondered if she was doing the right thing... But she quickly decides that she has to do this. Kodia has a family and people who love him, and well... No one really cared that Sarah was back. So she took a deep breath...

And ran right into Morgana.

Morgana's jaw dropped in shock. "What are you doing back here?" She demanded when she finally found her voice again, "Get out of here before the others see you,"

"No," Sarah replied, surprising herself with her own confidence, "Here's the deal. Let the captive... Kodia... go, and you can take me again. I know I'm not worth as much as Kodia but... If you take me captive... you can suck as much energy out of me as you want. And... I promise I won't try to escape. I know you probably can't trust what I'm saying right now, but... All I have is my word that I won't escape."

Morgana stared at Taurus like she has lost her mind, which she believed she had. But still, she was not sure what she should do. She shook her head slightly. "I just don't understand you people..."

Taurus lookd up at Morgana, nervousness and confusion showing in her eyes. "What do you mean? What's not to understand?"

"How can you be so willing to sacrifice yourselves for one another like that? Sacrifice yourself for anyone? You would die for your friends and family if only they'd be safe... And you put your lives on the line for people you've never even met. A world who will never truly know what you go through.

"I can tell that you do not know that man, Kodia, well... if at all. So why would you risk your life to save him? Why would you agree to go through hell here, and not be with your loved ones? Why would you allow him to be with his future wife, with his daughter when you would suffer at our hands?

"I remember being human... but I don't remember this... this bravery and heart you possess... I thought... I thought that I remembered all of what it was like to be human... Have I lost that much after all?"

Morgana realized she just revealed something to the girl that she never should have known. Morgana cursed herself profusely and shook her head, "Look, forget all I have said and never repeat it to anyone. Now get out of here. I won't allow anymore trades..."

"But Kodia--"

"I'll keep him safe. The others will drain him, but tell your friends I'll do all I can to keep him from-- To keep anything worse from happening,"

Taurus looked about to protest more and Morgana found herself trying to push the girl out, "Please just go... And..." Morgana looked around to make sure no one was around but still lowered her voice, "Tell you're friends where we are... Maybe I can speak to them before anything happens... but first I need to talk to Circe..."

Morgana noticed Taurus was still not leaving and protesting adamantly on getting Kodia out of there. Morgana shushed her and kept looking over her shoulder to see no one was watching, "Listen to me Sarah... If you stay any longer, they won't let Kodia go... Nor will they let you go. They'll keep you both and then all of your efforts, both of yours... will be for nothing... Now please just go!"

"Morgana, I am disappointed in you." A voice called out from the shadows. A shiver went up Morgana's spine as she whirled around, trying to hide Sarah with her host's body.

Circe appeared with Nyx and Narcissus in tow. Circe smiled darkly and said, "Well it seems the senshi brat couldn't stay away... I had no idea we were such great company."

"I want you to release Kodia and take me back instead!" Sarah cried, making Morgana want to cry.

The shades laughed out loud at her. Circe looked to the other two shades and said, "You see? Sentimentality. It's a weakness that will cause the Moon Kingdom to fall... at our hand."

"Circe please!" Morgana pleaded, but Circe holds her hand up to silence her.

"I will deal with you later, Morgana," Circe responded coldly, then she turned her attention back to Sarah.

"I see you are still here. My you are determined, aren't you?"

Sarah straightened herself defiantly and said. "I am here to repay a debt I own to a man that sacrificed himself for me. That is all. Now release him and take me in his stead."

Circe nodded and chuckled softly, "As I said," she hissed cruely, "Weakness. Now you know that we can not let you go, now that you have found us and our new hide out. It would be suicide to do such a thing... And we certainly aren't going to let Kodia go for the same reasons. Catch my drift?"

"Wait..." A weak voice calls from the cell across the room. Kodia was leaning heavily on the bars as he tried to speak, "I thought we had a deal... Let her go."

Circe grins evilly, "But she came back to be our guest. We honored our agreement when we let her go before. But now that she has come back of her own free will... Well... What would you do?

"Nyx! Narcissus! GET HER!"

Sarah was quickly recaptured after using too much power to try and save herself. She fell unconscious, and eventually she was thrown into the same cell as Kodia...

It was all for nothing.
