Chapter 17: Escape

Meanwhile, back at the warehouse in Crystal Tokyo, Samantha and Sarah continued to argue over what exactly they do and how they should go about doing it. Samantha, still fatigued from her encounter with Bauchus, eventually becomes too tired to continue and falls asleep. While Samantha is asleep, Sarah lays there on her makeshift cot and goes over a daring plan she had formulated during the argument in her head about a hundred times. Knowing the incredible consequences of her actions, Sarah feels like she has to do this. She sighed and looked over at the sleeping form of Samantha...

"I'm sorry, Sam, but I have to do this..." the senshi whispers with regret. Then she leaves a note on her bed written for Sam, and quietly sneaks out of the room. She looks down the hallway both ways to make sure no one is coming. Bauchus is no where to be seen. She sighed in relief and stepped into the hallway, heading towards the door that will let her out of the building.

"I'm coming, mom, hold on, I'm coming..."

Just as Sarah was leaving through one exit, Sera and Morgana were entering in another way. They made their way towards where the little senshi were kept and were most distressed to find Bauchus absent. Morgana grew worried and said, "Where's Bauchus?"

I don't know... We had better check on the brats..." Sera said. She was about to enter the room they were held in when Morgana grabbed her arm, "Hey!"

Morgana jumped a little at Sera's yelling and then timidly said, "They have names you know..."

Sera rolled her eyes and said, "Of course I know that they have names..." she pulled her arm out of Morgana's gentle grasp, "I just don't care..." then she power walked over to the room where the girls were, Morgana trailing behind.

When they got there, they noticed the door slightly ajar. Sera groaned, fearing the worst. She quickly ran in and screamed in anger when she saw one of the captives gone and the other one out cold, "I don't believe this... BAUCHUS!!!"

Morgana jumped at her screaming and moved over to the other girl. Then she picked up the note and read it over it. Her eyes widened when she read where she had gone and looked up to Sera with a worried expression. Then Morgana stuffed the note in her pocket, looking sorry for doing it.

"What do you want Sera? And why aren't you two at Alcatraz?" Bauchus asked from behind her.

"We were detected and had to leave... My power's are all tapped out," Bauchus opened his mouth to yell at her when she held up her hand, "Oh don't you DARE reprimand me when you can't even guard two weakened brats!"

"What are you babbling about?" Bauchus asked, annoyed.

Sera turned vermilion with anger and screeched, "BAUCHUS YOU MORON!!! DON'T YOU EVEN NOTICE THAT WE'RE SHORT ONE BRAT?!" Sera may not care for Circe's plan, but the captives provided easy energy on a slow night and she feared Circe may punish them all for this screw up.

Samantha is awoken by her shouting, and realizes that Sarah is gone. She's worried that maybe she's been killed or taken away and asks the shades where she is. Sera informs her that Sarah left her there to rot, causing Samantha to go off on a tirade, feeling alone, scared, and worst of all, betrayed...

Finally, Bauchus is able to get in a word and said, "Hey don't blame me! I was grabbing me a bite to eat. I was gone just a few minutes, and I checked that door before I left, it was locked!"

Sera rolled her eyes and said, "Well just wait until Circe returns! She'll be furious,"

Bauchus gave her an indignant look and said, "Hey she'll have that kid anyway; I don't see the big deal."

Sera turns on him and yells, "The big deal, ya big dolt, is if she escapes, she can tell the senshi where we are. And then we die. That's not such a good thing. We need to find her, NOW!

The shades quickly exit, making sure the door is locked this time. Bauchus asks where they should start looking, and Sera suggests that they take the Shinto Shrine and the Shuttle Terminals. Morgana, much to the surprise of all, volunteers to take the shrine. She comes up with the excuse that she can do that so that Sera can make sure Bauchus doesn't do anything stupid again. Bauchus is insulted, but Sera is quick to remind him that he already let one brat get away. Then they split up and start looking for Sarah...

Sadly, the three shades forgot one very important detail... Samantha was left unguarded. Samantha is now desperate to escape, and tries several things, before risking her life in order to transform into Sailor Ariel... Much to her surprise, it works and she only feels slightly fatigued. She blasts her way out into the open air and then melds with the earth to avoid detection... Unfortunately, she soon falls asleep...

Meanwhile, Sarah has made it to the Hino Shrine and is looking around, reminscing, still feeling guilty for leaving Samantha behind. Little does she know that Samantha has escaped, and has awakened, and is now on her way to the moon...

At the same time, the three shades who had unsuccessfully attempted to kidnap Heion, were returning to their base... Circe and Nyx were mostly silent on the trip back to earth. Narcissis on the other hand was anything but silent. She was constantly complaining about her injured arm and that Circe should have let her finish off that white furball in revenge. She goes on and on, until finally, Circe has had enough.

"Will you just shut up about your arm! We're lucky that the senshi didn't swarm down on us..." Circe gives her a hard look, but then turns away, not noticing how Narcissus glares at her back and silently stews...

Finally, Nyx asks what they're going to do now that they botched the kidnapping. Circe is only able to reply that they'll have to regroup, wait and see. The shuttle then lands, and the three exit, eventually noticing Sera and Bauchus searching the Shuttle Terminal for the kid. Circe is less than pleased that they're not at their posts, and demands an explanation, ordering Bauchus to speak first.

"Well it seems that one of the brats slipped out and escaped." Bauchus said sheepishly.

Sera snorts a little and mutters, "You bumbled the job is what you should be saying..."

Circe cut her off and told Bauchus to continue. Then he told Circe that no one was watching the prisoner, and the all quickly run back to check on Samantha... On the way, Circe has Sera tell her just what happened at Alcatraz and why she's back already. Sera relates the confrontation to her and Circe is once again, not pleased, "Did I not make myself perfectly clear? You were not to engage the senshi under any circumstances!"

Sera sighed and said, "Well the one called Mercury found us and we were cornered. We were lucky that we were able to get out of there. By the way where's the kid?"

Circe is a little annoyed that Sera pointed out her mistake, but handles it with grace, "There were complications. I was working on a new plan, but now we seem to be in jeopardy. The first things we need to do is secure our last prisoner, find Morgana, and find a new hideout. I am sure the senshi are on our trail somehow considering the bad luck we have been having."

Finally Circe reaches the room where Samantha was supposed to be in... Finding her gone. Circe throws up her hands in disgust and shouts, "Well thanks to your bumbling it seems we have no prisoners! Sera. Nyx. Find Morgana then meet back here. We will be leaving within the hour."
